Natasha Trethewey (born April 26, ) is an American poet who served as United States Poet Laureate from to ^[1] She won the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for her collection Native Guard,^[2] and is a former Poet Laureate of Mississippi.^[3]

Trethewey is the Board of Trustees Professor of English at Northwestern University.

She previously served as the Robert W. Woodruff Professor of English and Creative Writing at Emory University, where she taught from to ^[4]

Trethewey was elected in both to the American Academy of Arts and Letters^[5] and as a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
